Anvilstrike situation

An Anvilstrike situation was a United Orcs military code-name for any scenario involving an attack against Union assets, primarily Aldaain, by the Bacterian fortress vessels stationed on the planet. The possibility of the Bacterians launching a devastating first strike had existed since their arrival, and several responses had been developed, known as the Anvilstrike Protocols.

Such a situation eventually did materialize at the beginning of the First Bacterian War and the Siege of Aldaain, as the Bacterian motherships opened fire on the cities below and deployed devastating biological weapons. In the case of such an event, the UO had formulated a response strategy called Response Plan Blue Zero. It included an evacuation of the government to a hidden location on the outskirts of colonized space, as well as the full mobilization of UOSF space assets, primarily Task Force Orbeus, against the Bacterian fleet.

The military preparations undertaken by UOAF proved to be woefully inadequate against the full strength of the Bacterian war machine, and the evacuation procedures of key personnel were only partially successful. Relocation of the government to a remote, unannounced location was part of the Anvilstrike Protocols, which eventually resulted in the UO Emergency Government setting up operations at a remote mining outpost, nicknamed The Refuge.
