Ownership: HFed
System: P-687 system
RSA designation: RSA-91038-1
Location: Delta Quadrant, Outer Rim
Facilities: Former UO mining outpost.

Formerly known as Mining Station P-68749, the industrial facilities on the planet were reappropriated during the First Bacterian War to construct the massive UOSF HemmoCruiser III in 3,0025. The facilities were destroyed during the Battle of the Refuge.

History

The planet, then known as RSA-91038-1, was first reached in 2,0580.017 by interstellar exploratory vessel UOR InterSpace Explorer A06 of the Union Prospections & Explorations Corporation (UNIPEXCorp). Planetary resources claimed for extraction under RSA charter. Rich mineral veins identified in closer scans in 2,0639.813. The mining base was established 2,0640.364. First AMC delivery launched 2,0655.788. Full production start 2,0659.468.

Facilities

Refuge Central

Refuge Central, formerly Central Operations, was the central structure on the planet, housing administrative offices, quarters and living areas for the miners. The Admin wing held the offices of Veer KaSynner-CCZirnak, Colonial Administrator, and Vornel Meet, Chief Records Officer.

The only restaurant bar on the world, known as The Hole, was located here.

Outside the structure was a crude landing strip for passenger spacecraft.

Central command

The traffic control room of the base was turned into a makeshift strategic Command Center (CENCOM) during the War, with the Overhemmo xyrself overseeing operations with xyr staff and government-in-exile - including Veek Rekrotelav, Arnasuk Baasegnar (UOSC), Col. Herenis Trygg (UOAF) and Ovaap Resrek (UODS Civilian Planning).

Security sector

The Central facility also housed a Security Station with brigs and a small armory. The Chief of Security of the facility was Kl'zek De-root of Orc Patrol.

Mine Terminal

Located under the Boulevard, this section of the base was the headquarters of the mining operation. Foreman Tullion Ironspine had his office here.

This level of the facility also housed the facility's life support systems and maintenance ducts. Chief environmental engineer Marez Gomhtog was stationed here.

Construction Yard

Formerly known as The Pits, the area was a large crater used as an ore stockpile. When the the mobile shipyard platform Starbuilder One arrived in orbit of the world during the early stages of the War, it was disassembled and converted into a surface based drydock facility, putting to use the full industrial capacity and material resources of the world. The starship's molecular furnace was used to convert the massive ore stockpile into usable materials.

The Construction Yard was overseen by master machinist Törmö of Parsek, whose robotics expertise was put to use in the largely automated operation.

Residential Wings

With tens of thousands of refugees entering the facility, originally designed for less than a thousand miners, a need for extra housing facilities arose. Quarters for refugees were quickly dug underground and in separate structures on the surface around the Central, linked with pressurized access tunnels.

The hastily put together facilities were prone to failure in the planet's inhospitable atmosphere. Hundreds of refugees were killed when an ionic storm ripped open the pressure seals of one residential section.

Medical Wing

Originally a separate structure, the Medical Wing was expanded and turned into a hospital section inside a larger residential complex for refugees. Eventually, the entire section of the base was turned into a cryogenic facility where refugees entered cryosleep for the voyage aboard the HemmoCruiser III. The facility was overseen by chief physician Hermon CCGoh Yules.
