Giutu research site was a scientific complex built, maintained and supervised by civilian scientists and settlers willing to study the terrain and possible indigenous flora and fauna found there. A small research complex was build on the surface of a large ocean mass along with a spaceport for incoming and outgoing flights. The site existed on the planet Giutu.

At one point however the entire facility experienced a catastrophic biocontainment failure which compromised the entire facility. One of the indigenous fauna samples had somehow gotten loose there and had expanded itself organically throughout the facility killing nearly all of the inhabitants and staff there. A few days later an enigmatic transmission was sent from the facility declaring it contaminated with toxic waste leaking from the reactor along with an unknown biological risk apparently looming inside the facility. No-one dared to enter the site anymore and thus it was abandoned.

Several years later when Mad Gigerdi, Kyle Gigerdi and Den Kylek were travelling nearby the planet of Giutu, they received an unexpected transmission from inside the complex declaring that a small group of survivors were barely alive inside the complex. Previous transmissions from the site indicated that there were no survivors and that the last survivors had succuumbed to the biocontainment failure moments after sending the warning.

The trio of travelers decided to investigate despite earlier warnings that no-one had survived the accident that took place there. As the trio entered the complex they were greeted by three surviving scientists telling vague stories of their survival against the biomass inhabiting the facility.

It become clear not soon after that the surviving trio of scientists were merely mind controlled by the biomass that had broken out of the biocontainment chambers earlier. The biomass had taken control of some elements of the facility while waiting for unsuspecting travelers to come close enough for the distress signal to be picked up by their communication systems.

Kyle, Mad and Den decided to destroy the remains of the facility by first travelling to the remains of the facility's fusion reactor and by overloading it. The subsequent explosion was strong enough to destroy the remains of the facility along with the multiplying biomass. Only some basic foundational structures and components remained after the explosion.
