A rarely used heavy Orcish starfighter, nicknamed the "Ö-Wing", the I-4 Interceptor was developed to face the increasing threat of V3 Auto-Assault Craft. I-4 fighters had two special abilities: they could lay mines and project a holo-decoy capable of fooling enemy sensors. The I-4 design was too expensive for the UO, so it was never produced in large numbers.
Along with its use as a general fighter, the I-4 was utilized in various space combat roles including as a mine layer, anti-drone fighter and a bomber-pathfinder, guiding streams of medium and heavy bombers; or even other I-4s, equipped with bombs, to their targets.
It was extremely forgiving and could be mishandled in many ways, but the maneuverability in the early versions was too low for it to excel as a dogfighter.
All known I-4 starfighters were destroyed during the V3 War or retired from service soon after the end of the war.
