The United Orcs Starfleet is a military space fleet consisting of independently contributed starships from all UO member states. Currently going through a new revival under the United Orcish Empire, it is one of the oldest space exploration and defense organizations in the Galaxy.

Branches

In addition to the Starfleet, the UOSF has several specialized military branches operating under it. These include:

Foundation

Initially founded under the title United Orcish Starfleet on Orceron, the UOSF was a nominal international space force kept running by contributions from powerful Orcish nations and individual clans, separate from national space agencies.

The initial goal of the organization was to construct a fleet of large long range exploration and defense spacecraft for furthering Orcish interests in the First Star System and eventually the rest of the Orbeus Cluster. The goal was often ceremoniously stated to be "a thousand vessels", but this number was never reached while the UOSF was in operation on Orceron.

Each vessel in the fleet was unique, with only a few starships resembling each other in design. A large portion of the starfleet consisted of clanships, operated by members of an Orc clan instead of recruits or NCOs. Many of these vessels reached alien worlds, beginning the first period of interplanetary colonization in Orcish history.

Great Cataclysm of Orceron

Following the Great Cataclysm of Orceron, the organization's role was dramatically changed. The Starfleet became strictly a military force, with all resources used on protecting the survivors of the Home Fleet. Exploratory missions were not carried out, unless for scouting purposes of immediate necessity. A separate exploratory force known as the NODE Fleet was then constructed, its sole purpose to locate a new homeworld for the refugees.

After the Exodus

With the settlement of Aldaain underway, the importance of the Starfleet to protect the colony was obvious. As UO industrial capacity was re-established, the Adversary class became the first of the second generation of UOSF vessels.

V3 War

The UOSF was a critical force in the V3 War as the sole line of defense between UO colonies and the V3 battle fleets. No resources were spared to maintain the fleet's funding; everyone in the United Orcs knew losing the UOSF was the same as losing the war. Research & Development was at an all-time high.

Great Chaos

With the collapse of ... the UOSF was in disarray. Many fleets were cut off from central command, forming starfleets of their own. After the Unity Flight of HemmoCruiser II, the UOSF was mostly reunited as a unified starfleet.

First Bacterian War

The First Bacterian War was a staggering defeat to the UOSF, pitting the starfleet face to face with a technologically superior enemy. Thousands of starships were lost in fleet actions, including the Battle of Orbeus-6 and the Battle of the Refuge.

Today

After the collapse of the United Orcs, the UOSF was briefly left without a governing body. However, due to its highly independent nature, the fleet never shut down and as a new Orcish state, the United Orcish Empire, was established, control of the fleet assets were simply passed on.

Today, most of the vessels are privately owned, and fleet regulations have loosened considerably from UO days. Nevertheless, the UOSF remains a formidable fighting force consisting of over 500 000 privately-owned major vessels, and has participated in many modern combat actions such as the Beta Quadrant Conflict and the Emissary Campaign.

The fleet is still officially called the "United Orcs Starfleet", although some have started using the older "United Orcish Starfleet" interchangeably.

Ranks

These ranks apply only to the official command structure in the UOSF. Aboard clanships that also serve in the fleet, different ranking systems may be used. The UOCM and the UOSFC also use different ranks.
